Week 4

Congratulations to the choir.  They sounded fantastic and it was a superb performance!

There is lots on in the next couple of weeks so please keep reading!

This week we have coastal cluster soccer at Petane Domain.  Please get the return slips in ASAP.  Thanks to those who have done so already.  thanks also to the parents who are able to supervise.

We will be focusing on maths all week.  Firstly with the Mathletics Tri Nations competition. Haumoana School was the top performer in practice week with great performances from the 4 classes that enrolled.  And secondly - it is New Zealand Maths Week and we will be using this during class time.

Remember - 7.00am start on Tuesday for the keen mathematicians. Toast and Milo supplied!

Camp parents have been selected - remember that I need someone to manage food and cooking duties!  Please contact me if you have the skills.

Camp payments can be made at the office.  The recent fundraising has made an enormous dent in the cost.  Final costs out soon with forms. The estimate is down to $130!

The Senior Gym Festival takes place on Thursday.  Make sure return slips are in and good luck to the girls who are participating.

Friday is the Home and School Disco.  Dress up in 'Space' themed outfits and join in the fun from 6-7.30pm

Week 3

This week is the Kids Sing practices and performances.  The majority of Room 6 children are involved in the choir and are sounding fantastic.

Remember - school uniform and black shoes.

The term focus is 'We are Explorers'.  In Room 6, we will be covering this concept in our speeches (more information out this week) and we will be exploring 'coding' (basic instructions for computer programming).

In maths this week, we will continue to develop understanding of measurement  - length and area.  At Year 6 level, this includes adding decimals.

The children will have logins and passwords allocated this week for Mathletics.  We have access for two weeks.  This week to practice and next week for the Tri Nations Mathletics competition. They will use this platform for homework for the next two weeks rather than IXL.

Coastal Cluster soccer notice will be out tomorrow!

Taradale Terror

Three teams of children from Room 6 took part in the Taradale Terror on Friday evening.  This involved completing as many of the challenges as possible in the allocated time!
