Week 5

Reminders:

  • Learning conferences tonight - 2.15-5.30 and Wednesday 3.15-6.30.
  • Interschool rugby on Wednesday (leaving 11.45am).
  • Technology challenge next Wednesday for selected children.
  • Short week next week due to Queen's Birthday.
In maths, we are still learning to use a range of strategies to solve subtraction and addition problems.

In language, we will be writing explanations about volcanoes.

Week 4

Last Friday the school was entertained by the Minstrel who shared important messages about sustainability, fishing and the sea.





This week we continue with addition and subtraction strategies in maths.

In language, we will be learning about metaphors and using these in our writing.

We will also start our topic study  - Volcanoes.

Coastal Cluster Rugby notices went out last Friday.  Please return these ASAP and parent transport is needed for this event to take place.

Coastal Cluster Rugby Notice

Coastal Cluster Touch Rugby TOURNAMENT


19 May 2017

Dear Parents

Your child will be participating in an Inter-School Sports Competition on
Wednesday 31st May.  Children will be playing rugby at Napier Boys’ High School.
There will be two mixed gender teams.

Players will require:


·        Mouthguard.
·        Medication.
·        Appropriate footwear.
·        Black shorts.
·        Bag with lunch and water bottle.
·        Warm clothing.
·        School sports shirts (provided).



Times:        
·        We will leave school by 11.45 am for a 12.30 assembly.
·        Games will be completed by 2.30 pm.

Transport:           
·        We will be using private transport to and from the venue.


                        Please return the slip below to Mr Barclay by Monday 29th May.

Orienteering

Congratulations to Scarlett for her first place in the HB Primary School orienteering champs. Other results: Lydia = 4th, Milla 8th.
In the boy's event, Jack finished 10th and Max F finished 12th. 
Congratulations also to the ex-pupils who won 7 out of the 8 age/gender Championship divisions.
Next challenge - the team relay on June 11 in Taradale.

Week 3

This week there are nine children attending NYLD conference in Palmerston North on Monday.

Hiwi the Kiwi notices went out last week.  Please get the return slips and payment ($4.00) back in ASAP for the Friday show.  Get a taste Hiwi the Kiwi.

In language, we have a focus on 'recount'writing and understanding and using 'language devices'.

In maths we are learning to use a range of appropriate strategies to solve addition and subtraction problems.
