Day One

It was a positive start to the year in Room 6.

Today we worked on a collaborative challenge involving spaghetti, tape and marshmallows. Congratulations to Thom, Harry and Max who worked very well together to create the tallest structure.  Second and successful in completing a self-supporting tower were the Team of Alex, Lennox and Jacob.

Class newsletter and child information sheet went home today. Please return the completed information sheet.

Remember drink bottles, hats and togs for the summer term.

Check out the first of a series of videos that we will be watching to help us develop a Growth Mind-set.

WELCOME TO ROOM 6 2017

Dear Parents and Children of Room 6 2017

Welcome back to Haumoana School for another year of learning. I hope that you all had a great holiday and I am looking forward to hearing about your adventures.

In Room 6 we will focus on developing a Growth Mindset (Carol Dweck) which can assist all learners to accelerate achievement across the curriculum.

This year Room 6 will again be a one-to-one digital classroom where children will have access to PCs, netbooks, Chromebooks and iPads to assist and enhance their learning.

I believe technology combined with a range of physical challenges and competitions along with a focus on the basics can assist children to become enthusiastic, independent 21st century learners.

Room 6 operates within the ‘Senior Team’ but as a senior class have many extra opportunities and commitments.  There is also a strong focus on leadership and preparing for life beyond Haumoana School.

I value communication and all class events will be posted on the class blog shortly.  This will be regularly updated with notices, photos and examples of children’s learning.

Check out last year’s blog http://room06haumoana2016.blogspot.co.nz for a taste of Room 6 learning.  All children will have their own blog to share their progress and learning early in Term 1.
